Replacing sound with language has much deeper implications. Language is our mind's generative foundation not only for  communicating with others but also for critical thinking [Chomskey 1965]. Both communication and deliberate thought are a generative process whereby our mind uses conceptual building blocks to generate meaningful sentences, ideas, and reasoning [reference]. However, as the mind of young children is still struggling with the complexity of language there are severe age limitations as to what can be taught through language [reference].

Leonard Bernstein (1973) followed by Lehrdhal and Jackendoff (1996) pointed out that music is also a generative mechanism that our mind learns and utilizes just like language. Jeff Hawkin's recent Theory of Intelligence [2021] implies that our mind can develop its generative capabilities using either language or sound. This new understanding brings forward several ground-breaking implications:

• Sound can establish cognitive foundations at a much earlier age than language.

• Hence, healthy Foundational Life Skills can be established while the mind itself is focused on developing these very foundations, even before preschool.

• Even after language is mastered, many of these foundations are hard to address by means of language.

• Moreover, as language can only be used at a later age, many of these foundational skills have already been set. If existing foundations are "unhealthy", they will first have to be "re-set". No current educational methodology is equipped to do so.

 

The benefits of TGM

In the following table we list key cognitive foundations that are addressed by TGM. The Personal column lists skills that enable an individual maximize their own potential. The Social column lists skills that enable productive teamwork and collaboration with others.
